The evolution of Delhi University, it is very dear journey for a DUite. It holds the same dearness before and after its evolution, nothing perpetual can be as cherished by DU students.

Delhi University stands the test of time. More than 100 years have passed and the change continues but the distinguished personalities coming to the propitious campus will never stop. DU has changed much for good, having had a perfect past and promising a future to be far better.

During the past almost hundred years, from its very modest beginning in 1922 to the present status of one amongst the premier institutions of learning in the country, Delhi University has undergone an incredible metamorphosis. The journey of DU over the decades marked its historic milestone, academic growth, and high spirit which time could not kill or diminish.

The growth of Delhi University has been a manifestation of its strength and dedication to the cause of excellence in academics. At every step, DU has invariably moved ahead with the needs of an ever-evolving diverse student population.

It was born with the lofty ideal of making education qualitatively available to the youth of this country. From a few colleges in the year of its inception, DU began primarily offering courses in humanities and basic sciences. This university was being set up at one of the most opportune moments in the freedom struggle of India because it aimed to lead the country ahead by shaping young minds into future leaders and thinkers. It acted like a breeding ground for forthcoming leaders who would shape the course of Indian history.

The first days of DU saw a small campus with few faculties offering various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Conceived to provide quality education at an affordable rate to students from every socio-economic background, DU quickly emerged as a hub of intellectual deliberation and academic excellence.

DU has been academically in step with the international trend, yet never compromised on its conventional disciplines.
